IMAGINE if the shops could come to you.

A new style service led by Fraser Suites Glasgow is offering that as part of an exclusive personal shopping experience. So RACHEL LOXTON asked former Miss Scotland Aisling Friel to put it to the test

MODEL Aisling Friel is trying on stunning designer dresses, from a maxi Amanda Wakeley number to a Victoria Beckham bodycon dress.

But the 27-year-old, from the city's South Side, is not in a store changing room.

She is nestled away in one of Fraser Suite Glasgow's 98 suites.

Bosses of the serviced apartments, which have just been renovated, have teamed up with luxury fashion retailer Cruise clothing to launch an in-room personal shopping service for guests.

The new fashion service will offer guests the opportunity to book a one-to-one appointment in the comfort of their own apartment, within the 1850s former bank in Albion Street.

Guests will be able to shop the latest men's and women's collections from iconic brands, including Alexander McQueen and Gucci in privacy, while having the expertise of a Cruise personal stylist on hand to guide them through their fashion choices.

Fashion expert Aileen McCann, 26, who is one of Cruise's fashion experts, said: "We have always been very supportive of services that help to give our customers a fuller experience so we're happy to be involved with this.

"It gives the customer the chance to try on things in their apartment and they have an expert to give them a second opinion."

Aileen picked out four looks for Aisling, which included two outfits for day and two for night.

Aileen, from Bishopbriggs, said: "Guests at the apartments can book through the reception when they're staying and someone from our team will come down with loads of choices, or if they need an outfit for a specific event, we can help."

And Aisling, whose style icon is Audrey Hepburn, is not disappointed.

She said: "It's lovely to have someone pick outfits for you because you wear things you might not wear normally."

Aisling, who was crowned Miss Scotland in 2005, said she thought the service suited the city, which is known for its selection of high street and designer stores.

She said: "People come to Glasgow for the shops, so this is such a good idea."

Jennifer Connolly, director of sales and marketing at Fraser Suites Glasgow, said: "Many of our guests are new to the city and either don't know where is best to shop or don't have time to look for new clothes while on business.

"People are increasingly time-poor and this service gives them back some time and puts the pleasure back into shopping."
