Strum guys have all the luck at city competition

THE GLASGOW Music Festival is into its final week showcasing the finest talent of thousands of young musicians.

Before it closes this Saturday, with The Last Night Concert, more than 7000 young performers will have taken part in the event over the last two weeks.

They will have performed around 170 hours of music, speech, drama and dances across six city venues.

Yesterday the James L. McAdam Memorial Trophy was won by Stonelaw High School Senior Concert Band, while the Gavin Settle Memorial Certificate was awarded to Andrew Maguire.

The Wood Memorial Trophy was awarded to Craigholme Junior Choir, while the Ian Barrie Certificate (Hymns) went to St Michael's Primary.
