What happens if I need urgent or out-of-hours dental care?

ANHS dental care is always available if you are in discomfort, whether you have a regular dentist or not. Urgent and out-of-hours treatment will include treatment that is necessary to relieve pain.

To access emergency dental advice, phone NHS 24 on 08454 24 24 24. NHS 24 has trained dental nurses who can provide advice and refer you to further out-of-hours treatment in your area if required.

Unless your condition is serious, your local out-of-hours dental service may advise you to take pain relief and book an appointment for during normal clinic hours.

QMy baby is three months old. Can I take ibuprofen while I'm breastfeeding?

AIf you take ibuprofen, it appears in your breast milk in very small amounts. It is unlikely to cause any harm to your baby.

You should seek further advice from your GP before taking ibuprofen if your baby was born prematurely, had a low birth weight, or has any other medical condition.
