GLASGOW'S legendary pub scene will come under the spotlight as part of a new Evening Times blog.

Production journalist Craig Gibson is assuming the title of The Pub Punter to bring you the best and worst of the city's pub scene exclusively on the Evening Times website.

Craig will be visiting pubs new and old across the city to rate them on their drinks and atmosphere - as well as the things that really get us talking like bar snacks, jukebox selection and the state of the toilets.

The Pub Punter is also open to suggestions and tip- offs from our readers, so let us know about the best and worst pubs you have wandered into over the years.

Have your been going to the same local boozer for decades because the service just can't be beaten?

Do you know of one pub where the selection of tipples is top notch?

The Pub Punter would love to hear from you.

Craig, 42, from Knightswood, has lived in the city for more than 20 years. He said: "The Pub Punter isn't just interested in how good the pint is.

"There are hundreds of pubs in Glasgow and if you choose to spend your hard earned money in one it should be because of more than that.

"I am looking for somewhere that ticks all the boxes - atmosphere, service, bar food, and even the toilets."

He added: "Obviously it is important to drink responsibly and there is a big push on healthy living in the run up to the 2014 Games, which is great.

"But pubs are an important part of the social scene in Glasgow - even for those who don't drink. They are culturally and economically a significant part of the city, with people coming from far and wide to sample our nightlife.

"And this has to be recognised and celebrated."

Each pub visited by our punter will be given a score out of five for value, atmosphere, bar snacks/meals, loos and quality of lager.
