TOOTS had been feeling a little bit neglected at Tec Towers.

I had been on a hot case for weeks. I'd been having sleepless nights that a certain slippery customer was going to get away from me.

But with a hefty bounty I couldn't give up and eventually cracked the case of Billy the Bolt. Aptly named as that was what he tried to do until this old gumshoe caught him.

"Toots you have my undivided attention - we're quids in and there is plenty of spondoolies for a night out," I told her ladyship.

Quick as a flash she was ready for a night on the town.

She had squeezed herself into a little leopard print number and we were ready to go.

"I know just the place to try for my treat Tec - everyone has been raving about it," piped up the Moll.

Turns out she had heard a lot of chatter about A'Challtainn Fish Restaurant and Bar Fish and Seafood Restaurant in the East End.

I fired up the Buick and we were off.

From first appearances I wasn't sure we were in the right place. There seemed to be a lot of trendy artist folks hanging about but turns out it is housed in the heart of BAaD at the Barras.

And when we turned up the party seemed to be in full swing with a band playing and several stalls set up on the ground floor.

We were heading upstairs to the restaurant and were greeted by warm staff.

We had a cosy table for two - Toots as usual getting the best view of everything going on.

Our server went through a few of the specials and we had a quick scran scan while ordering up a couple of dry French white wines.

The menu looked like a celebration of Scottish seafood.

I'm more of a well done steak and chips man, but I could see Toots drooling over some of the fresh seafood platters at neighbouring tables.

But the beady wee eyes on the the langoustine put me right off.

There was plenty more to choose from though.

"I can't decide it all sounds so delicious," a salivating Toots said.

"Well honey I'm playing it safe with good old fashioned fish and chips with mushy peas - you push the boat our dear we're celebrating my case success," I told a happy Toots.

With a more adventurous streak, Toots opted for salmon and crab cannelloni followed by sea bream.

We sat back and relaxed and soaked up the atmosphere.

It is a unique little restaurant and word has spread indeed as there was hardly a table to be had.

Our starters were soon up. I played safe with some bread and dips - I couldn't go wrong.

Toots however - was in seventh heaven. Her plate of food looked pretty as a picture.

"It's too nice to eat," she declared but seconds later she managed to dive right in.

I thought we were going to have a When Harry Met Sally moment in the restaurant there was that many oohs and aahs coming from Toots.

"This is first class. The salmon is melting in the mouth and with the fresh crab it is a texture and flavour sensation rolled into one," spouted Toots.

I think she has been watching a little too much Masterchef as she could give John Torode and Gregg Wallace a run for their money with those descriptions.

The main event was still to come.

With prompt service our mains were delivered and we ordered up another couple of wines to wash it all down.

My fish and chips were delicious. Lovely white fish and crispy batter - but the handcooked chips now they were a real winner.

I could tell Toots was enjoying her sea bream as she had fallen silent.

It was another good looking dish and came with sweet potato and carrot puree. It certainly was a winning dish for the Moll.

As we made our way home, although the scran was nice Toots will always be my catch of the day.
