Tennent’s Lager is having a laugh at the expense of its competitor Carling this week after the alcohol content of Carling was revealed to be weaker than advertised.

Carling has been suffering consumer backlash over the past fortnight after it emerged the company behind it, Molson Coors, saved millions of pounds in taxes by reducing the ABV of its beer to 3.7% - instead of the 4% printed on its packaging.

Now, though, Glasgow drinkers are being given a chance to get their own back.

By bringing a can of Carling to the Tiki Bar in Bath Street on Saturday, September 9, folk can swap their lesser beer for a “refreshingly accurate” 4% ABV pint of Tennent’s Lager - free.

The brilliant move is being labelled “Honest T” by the Glasgow brewers.

Other venues across Scotland are also set to take part in the hilarious move, including The Auld Reekie Tiki Bar in Edinburgh, The Adam Lounge & Hawthorn Bar in Aberdeen, and Taybridge Bar in Dundee.

The amnesty will take place at all venues between noon and 5pm tomorrow only.

Glasgow Times:

Alan McGarrie, head of UK brand marketing at Tennent’s Lager, reflected on the Glasgow beer’s “Here to Serve” strapline, and said: “That means we brew what we say we brew and our drinkers always know where they stand.

“Those who’ve been short-changed are rightly annoyed, but our amnesty will hopefully get rid of any bitter aftertaste.

“After all, ‘Honest T’ is always the best policy.”

Please note only one can of Carling per person can be exchanged for a pint of Tennent’s Lager in the aforementioned outlets.
