A popular Glasgow bar chain is giving away free beer this weekend after a trademark victory over Elvis Presley’s estate.

BrewDog will be handing out a free schooner of Elvis Juice to beer fiends who visit any of its 37 UK bars, including the two in Glasgow.

The giveaway comes as the company celebrates last week’s big win.

Elvis Juice launched in 2015, but was soon hit with a lawsuit from the late rock ‘n’ roll singer’s estate, alleging it infringed on its trademark, requesting BrewDog change the name.

After losing the trademark battle in 2017, BrewDog appealed and, last Thursday, the UKIPO ruled in its favour.

Evening Times:

BrewDog’s co-founder James Watt described the win as “a victory for common sense.”

He said: “It’s a triumph for all underdogs battling against corporate inflexibility and entrenched hubris. It’s a win for the thousands of beer drinkers across the world and those who have so passionately supported us over the last three years.

“This is a vindication of our belief in freedom and our dogged decision to appeal the initial ruling, and not go gently into the night.”

Grab your free schooner on Saturday, February 3 and Sunday, February 4 at either the Argyle Street branch of the Merchant City one.

Note: you must be dressed as the King himself to claim yours.
