A POPULAR Finnieston boozer has announced it will close.

Distill, which is based in Argyle Street, said they have abandoned plans for a refurbishment and will instead close for good.

Glasgow Times:

In a statement on the social media website Facebook, the boozer said: "Alas, dear friends, it’s time to get the hell off this rapidly changing street. The refurb becomes a closure and with it a welcomingly deep breath.

"It’s been the best of times and the worst of times, good friends have come and gone, and we've learned more than we could have imagined.

"Thanks to all who have supported us throughout and to those that haven’t, we won’t miss you. "Peace and integrity are wonderful things and we will take them with us to projects new."

Those behind the business then teased about another venture.

The statement added: "A few of us have a little something coming sooner than you might think so keep yer eyes peeled and we’ll be sure to keep you updated."

Fans of the pub expressed their disappointment over the news.

Mark Gahagan said: "You were the best rum bar in Glasgow. I was planning on coming through again in a couple of weeks to try some new rums."

Iain Mac added: "Gutted to hear this news - best bar in Finnieston. Outstanding effort guys and thanks for the great memories."

Lisa Hodge wrote: "Really sad news, loved Distill in the good auld days but vibe had changed my last couple of visits. All the best for the future and to the great staff."
