1. Glasgow International Comedy Festival

Europe’s largest comedy festival has had the city in stitches since the beginning of the month. Sadly, it draws to a close this weekend. Thankfully, it’s going out with a bang. This weekend sees Elaine C Smith take over the King’s Theatre (today and tomorrow), Janey Godley hit Oran Mor (tomorrow to Sunday) and Limmy at the King’s on Saturday.

2. The Big Feed
Govan, Saturday and Sunday

Scotland's biggest indoor, fully licensed, street food market turns one this weekend. To celebrate, organisers are “going big” and offering one lucky diner free entry for four people, a private table and £100 cash. All you have to do is visit the event’s Facebook page, hit “going” and share it. Simple. With live music, DJs, games for the kids and a huge outdoor seating area, this is one party not to be missed.

Entry is £2 or £1 with a Subway concession card. Under-tens go free.

3. Sam Smith

The Too Good At Goodbyes singer is stopping off in Glasgow for a two-night stint, brining all of his much-loved hits. The tour comes on the back of his highly-anticipated sophomore album The Thrill of It All. Unsurprisingly, tickets have been selling fast for months.

4. Aye Write! Glasgow’s Book Festival
Mitchell Library, until Sunday

More than 200 authors covering topics such as politics, mental health and music have been taking part in this year's festival since March 15. Winding down for another year on Sunday, be sure to head along to the Mitchell to catch hairdresser to the Beatles Leslie Cavendish tomorrow, journalist and former Sunday Times dating columnist Dolly Alderton on Saturday and 94-year-old Mona McLeod as she shares her experiences as a skilled labourer during World War Two.

5. Late Night Cult Classic: Speed
GFT, tomorrow

One of the most satisfying action films of the ‘90s, Speed is high-concept Hollywood at its best. Keanu Reeves does his finest Action Man impression as the cop who won’t give up on a bomb-loaded bus filled with terrified passengers, Sandra Bullock provides a vital spark of humour and Dennis Hopper’s bad guy is the perfect mix of “crazy, but not stupid”, in a film that raised the bar for thrilling action cinema.

6. David Bowie Tribute
Hard Rock Cafe, tomorrow

The sensational Spiders on Mars return to Hard Rock Cafe Glasgow with their tribute to the one and only David Bowie. There’s still time for customers to book their place on their dine and gig package which includes a two-course meal ticket to the gig. Customers will dine in the main restaurant on the ground floor with the gig taking place in the Live Lounge on the first floor.

7. Burger & Bun
Bearsden

Opening today in Bearsden, this “hot, new” diner promises to bring fresh, handcrafted fast food to burger fans. As well as handcrafted patties and buns, the menu offers everything from loaded fries to gourmet hotdogs. To celebrate the big launch, the team is offering £1 burgers today and tomorrow only, so be quick!

8. Ride preview weekend
M&D’s, Saturday and Sunday

Scotland’s theme park is ready to open its doors for the first time this year for an exclusive preview weekend, welcoming a new ride for 2018. Set to send visitors in a spin, the Night Mover Waltzer is an old-school lights, music and artwork ride, sure to bring back feelings of nostalgia for adrenaline junkies. Hairy-faced beer drinkers, rejoice! The awesome folks at Bangin’ Beards have created a pampering night especially for the fuzzy of face. The Legends return to Ibrox for a star-studded match of Light Blues heroes playing against one another to raise money for two great causes. Two teams of fans favourites, with Walter Smith lined up to manage the home side, are will take to the pitch once again to raise funds for the Rangers Charity Foundation and the Rangers Youth Development Company. Famous faces set to make an appearance include Barry Ferguson, Lorenzo Amoruso, Nacho Novo, Ally McCoist and many more.
