WHETHER Glasgow is basking in high temperatures and or dealing with a cold front, there is always an excuse for ice-cream in the city.

Here is our guide to some of the best places to buy ice-cream.

Glasgow Times:

1. Jaconelli's, 1419 Maryhill Road, Glasgow, G20 9AA

This is traditional ice-cream at its best right in the heart of Maryhill.

Trainspotting director Danny Boyle even sent a T2 crew to the eatery several times a week while filming to get his Jaconelli's fix.

Expect traditional ice-cream in nougats, 99s or wafers, and if you are sensible you will ask for lots of raspberry sauce.

Glasgow Times:

2. Nardini's, 215 Byres Road, Glasgow, G12 8UD

This seaside favourite is right in the heart of the city's West End.

It is an ice-cream haven with lots of flavours, toppings and sundae options on offer.

Glasgow Times:

3. Big Licks, 47 Finnieston Street, Glasgow, G3 8JU

Big Licks is dessert heaven. There is cakes, waffles, crepes and any other dessert you can think of available with a variety of ice-cream options.

The dessert restaurant, who also have a branch on Victoria Road, are always coming up with new flavours, making it pretty hard to stay away.

Glasgow Times:

4. University Café, 87 Byres Road, Glasgow, G11 5HN

You can't call yourself a West Ender until you have had ice cream from University Cafe.

It is traditional, creamy and a throwback to your childhood.

We recommend a double nougat, or an oyster. They are all good!

Glasgow Times:

5. Queen's Park Cafe, 530 Victoria Road, G42 8BG

This is a proper throwback to your childhood. Traditional cones, sprinkles, a flake and lots of raspberry sauce.

The Southside restaurant uses their own unique recipe that tastes like no other.

And they are so passionate about their ice cream, they even have a giant cone outside their premises.

Glasgow Times:

6. Crolla's Gelataria, 221 Byres Road, Glasgow, G12 8UD

The staff at Crolla's have the best job ever - they get to play with ice cream.

Their cold stone creation service allows you to make your own dessert and mesh flavours together.

Get creating - you won't regret it.

Glasgow Times:

7. Black Vanilla Cafe, 553 Duke Street, Glasgow, G31 1DL

Black Vanilla in the city's East End started off life as the first cereal restaurant in Glasgow.

They then became known for their freakshakes.

But fans of the cafe will know they do pretty awesome ice cream too - with lots of dessert options to accompany the flavours on offer.

Glasgow Times:

8. Loop & Scoop, 665 Great Western Road, Glasgow, G12 8RE

Loop & Scoop are the new kids on the block offering ice-cream fans the chance to pair up a cold treat with churros.

The West End dessert parlour has become a firm favourite with gelato on offer in a variety of flavours.

Glasgow Times:

9. Deesserts, 287 Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow, G2 3HQ

There is a reason Deesserts is always busy - and it might have something to do with their amazing ice cream.

So many flavours, so  much choice - you'll need to keep going back to you try them all.
