A GLASGOW restaurant is offering teaser portions of their Indian barbecue dishes to eat outside in the sunshine for National Barbecue Week.

Traditional Indian barbecue food is cooked in a tandoor, a bell-shaped oven traditionally made of clay fires with wood or charcoal.

It can reach temperatures of 480 degrees Celsius (900 Fahrenheit).

The Dhabba at Candleriggs in the Merchant City has an enviable position in the sunshine with outdoor seating on sunny days.

Since it’s been so hot in recent days, owner Navdeep Basi and his team have decided to offer sunseekers a special outdoor menu for al fresco diners to tie in with National Barbecue Week, on until Sunday.

Among their tandoori teasers, they are offering adraki paslayan - charcoal roasted lambchops with pickled ginger and red chillis.

They are also offering chicken and monkfish with plenty of vegetarian delights like crunchy dumplings of shredded spinach and onions in batter and fried.

Navdeep Basi said: “The tandoor plays a large part in Punjabi cooking and to tie in with National BBQ week we thought we’d offer Glaswegians something a bit exotic.

“We’ve put a mix of street food favourites like bhel puri and ragada pattir on our outdoor menu as well as a variety of tasty tandoori dishes.

“We’ve also got a host of drinks from Kingfisher beer to traditional lassis to help you wash it down.”
