A MAJOR supermarket retailer has revealed plans to take over an empty unit within Robroyston Retail Park in the city's North East.

Iceland has applied to Glasgow City Council for planning permission to erect new signs on the former Currys and PC World unit.

The frozen food specialists, however, are bringing their 'The Food Warehouse' brand to the city.

The Food Warehouse is described as Iceland's bigger little brother.

There are similar stores in Clydebank, Coatbridge and Wishaw meaning the Robroyston branch would be a city first.

The move would mean another food store in the retail park which currently houses Asda.

Planners are expected to approve the plans for the premises on Monument Drive by August 10.
