TWO Asian men were brutally set upon by a 50-strong mob during a racist street attack.

Brothers Ramzan and Nasir Mohammed were assaulted outside a sandwich firm where they worked after the gang piled out of a nearby pub in Glasgow's East End.

The terrified pair had been attacked simply because three men had earlier been refused service.

Four thugs now face jail after admitting being part of the incident when they appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court.

Stephen McGaughey, 20, of Irongay Street, pled guilty to knifing both men, while Forbes Menzies, 20, of Abernethy Street, both Haghill, admitted injuring Ramzan Mohammed with a piece of wood.

Menzies, David Whitelock, 25, of Walter Street, and Elizabeth Collins, 20, Dreghorn Street, Haghill, also admitted a racial breach of the peace.

Sheriff Brian Kearney deferred sentencing until next month and continued bail on all four.

The thugs smiled and laughed with one another as they left the courtroom.

The court heard the brothers had been at a meeting at the family-run Snax 4 U sandwich firm in Gateside Street, Dennistoun, on August 7, 2005.

Menzies and two other men came in demanding food, but were told the premises were not open to the public.

A row erupted, resulting in Ramzan and Nasir coming down to see what was wrong.

Morag McLintock, prosecuting, said the argument spilled outside and a gang of 50 people - including the accused - rushed out from the nearby Bristol Bar pub to join in.

The brothers were surrounded as a brawl broke out and were subjected to racial abuse.

The court heard Nasir required treatment for a six-inch wound under his chin leaving him permanently scarred.

The court was also told the family have been left "fearful" following the attack.
