A NURSE returned from a two-day pampering treat to find a dream come true - her rundown garden had been transformed.
Margaret Traynor, who will be 63 next week, spent two days at Mar Hall's Aveda Spa in Renfrewshire with her 37-year-old daughter Karen.
But while she was away, her back garden in Glasgow was being given a luxury £6000 facelift by a team of experts from This Morning's Dreams Come True series.
Margaret - who lost her husband Cecil, 61, to cancer three years ago - was nominated for the makeover by her younger daughter Linda, 36, because her family reckon she's a star.
The transformation was carried out by the TV show's team of nine Garden Angels' led by presenter David Domoney.
They spent a day and a half toiling in torrential rain while Margaret was pampered.
She was then lured back to her Partick home blindfolded after being told her three-year-old grandson Aiden had another surprise.
Margaret, an auxiliary nurse at Yorkhill Hospital, said: "It was better than winning the Lottery.
"It was a real shock when I took off the blindfold, and when I saw some of my colleagues from the hospital first I thought it was to do with work.
"It was my next goal in life to get the garden done, so I couldn't believe how quickly they've done it while I've been away getting pampered.
"I used to watch all these programmes and say,I wish someone would come and do my garden'. But I never thought for a minute it would happen."
Linda, who now stays in Oxfordshire, is delighted she has been able to help make her mum's dreams come true. She said: "She certainly deserves it because she's a star and helps everyone.
"The garden was a complete coup, it was a shocking mess. But her reaction has been great, she was overjoyed."
TV crews from the ITV show also visited Yorkhill where Margaret works and interviewed her colleagues before the team transformed her slabbed garden with new decking, shrubs, flowers, gravel, a wall of mirrors and garden seating area where Margaret celebrated with a glass of champagne.
Garden Angels presenter David said: "Margaret thoroughly deserved her surprise and it was a pleasure to make her dream come true.
"It was fantastic to see so many of her friends, family and colleagues come along on the morning which was a testament to what a well-respected lady she is."
Nicky Patterson, designer of Newton Mearns firm Garden Improvements, donated and fitted her garden decking. He said: "Beforehand it was all slabbing and the slabbing was uneven. It was not the most pleasing.
"You are probably talking about a makeover worth about £6000, so she was pretty chuffed when we had finished."
