Glasgow band Glasvegas and the city's legendary Barrowlands venue are in the running for UK awards.

The Dalmarnock quartet have been shortlisted for Best Album and Best New Act at the NME Awards, while the Barrowlands is nominated in the Best Venue category.

Scotland's top music festival, T In The Park, is in contention for Best Live Event.

Glasvegas's self-titled debut album proved a smash hit on release and now it is up against releases from American heavyweights Kings of Leon and The Killers, indie band Bloc Party and rock bad boys Oasis.

Oasis have been nominated in seven categories, including Best Band, Best Video and Best Live Band.

In the Best New Act Catagory, Glasvegas are listed alongside MGMT, Late Of The Pier and White Lies.

But it's bad news for Amy Winehouse and Pete Doherty - they have both been shortlisted for the Villian Of The Year and the Worst Dressed Awards, while Coldplay, Razorlight and Scouting For Girls will fight it out for Worst Album.

The winners will be named on February 25 at the 02 Arena in London and among the acts lined up to play are Dennistoun band Franz Ferdinand.
