SCOTTISH Olympian Sir Chris Hoy was among thousands of cyclists to take part in a traffic-free city ride yesterday.
Roads in the centre of Glasgow were closed to vehicles for much of the day for the Skyride event.
Four-times Olympic gold medallist Sir Chris said: "It was fantastic to see so many people enjoying a day out cycling together, having the unique opportunity to cycle through traffic-free streets.
"I hope today has reminded people how much fun can be had from cycling and has encouraged people to get back on their bikes."
Despite some heavy showers of rain, fellow Olympian Ross Edgar and former Blue Peter presenter turned celebrity dance star Gethin Jones joined Sir Chris to ride the course, from Glasgow Green to the SECC and back again.
Glasgow councillor Archie Graham said: "Cycling is the healthiest, greenest way of getting about, and after today I hope that the thousands of people who took to their bikes will now be thinking of getting back on their saddles more often."
