Kelly joins college staff

IT was a proud day for hundreds of students at James Watt College as they graduated. The students, from the North Ayrshire campus, celebrated their success at the Abbey Church in Kilwinning.

Kelly Templeton, 19, from Dreghorn, was among the students who enjoyed their big day.

She graduated with an HNC Administration & Information Technology and has returned to the college to take up a post as an administration assistant She said: "I started at James Watt College on the Skillseeker programme when I was 16, after attending an open day.

"When I heard about the programme I thought it would be perfect for me - it gave me the chance to gain qualifications and work experience at the same time as earning a wage.

"I progressed from SVQs onto my HNC and really enjoyed the combination of working and studying at the same time.

"I now have a great job here at the college and am hoping to work my way up from here. I've been at James Watt for four years now and I'm still really enjoying it - joining the Skillseeker programme was definitely the right move for me!"
