THOMAS GRAVESEN today hung up his boots - at just 32. The Danish midfielder, who played for Hamburg, Everton and Real Madrid, has not kicked a ball since leaving Celtic last summer.
After considering his future, he has now decided to retire. He said: "I've had 12 fantastic years abroad. It's given me incredible experiences I am grateful for. If I could, I'd do it all over again. But I turn 33 in March, and it's correct for me to finish now."
Meanwhile, Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink wants a League Cup medal to complete his Celtic set. The striker said: "It's the one competition I've not won in Scotland and I want to win everything there is to win here.
"Last year we weren't in a final and there was something missing. When you look at how it all ended, with us winning the league, you can cope with that.
"The year before we had the last game of the season at Hampden. I've happy memories of that final, with Joe Doumbe scoring with a tackle! It was a really great day for my family. That's what we want again."
