THE euro is still the most popular currency for Glasgow holidaymakers heading abroad this summer.
And Spain - including the islands of Majorca, Menorca and the Canaries - is still the favourite holiday hot spot.
Currency exchange provider Cheque Centre, which has branches throughout Glasgow, has just carried out a consumer survey across its 138 outlets across Britain.
It found that Glaswegians had an average deal of £378.86 on euros making it the highest figure in Scotland and the second highest in Britain for transactions to Liverpool (£390.85).
Benidorm and Salou were popular mainland destinations, while Magaluf in Majorca was top party spot for the young crowd. The Canaries were also popular with families and the young set.
The Glasgow holidaymaker also loves to head west.
He was top dollar for both America and Canada where the demand for both dollars was the highest in Britain.
Second most asked for currency in Glasgow was the US dollar with New York and Florida the most popular destinations.
Average deals here was £396.03 with a younger crowd heading for New York for a four or five-day break, while families headed for Florida with the Disney attractions.
Canada is also miles better for holidaymakers heading from Glasgow - perhaps for those visiting relatives, while Australia, in fourth, was also popular because of family connections.
The delights of Turkey also proved popular with Glasgow travellers, with Marmaris proving a big attraction.
Turkey came fifth in the table with an average of £287.84 spent on the lira, while South Africa is also growing popularity, perhaps helped by publicity surrounding the next World Cup.
City destinations were also popular, with Prague in the Czech Republic and Dubai in the United Arab Emirates helping their currencies into the top 10.
Cheque Centre managing director Billy Shaw said: "The size of the European Union obviously makes the euro our number one best-seller but our survey did throw up one or two odd little facts. No-one spends more going to Canada than the Glaswegian.
"The city came out on top right across the UK for Canadian dollars and New York is becoming hugely popular for four and five-day visits."
