LIAM BUCHANAN has vowed that their will be no repeat of the profligacy that uncharacteristically blighted his performance at Ross County last weekend.

The Jags' top scorer has already banged in 10 goals this season as the campaign enters only its fourth full month.

That has seen Buckie overtake last term's seven-goal haul while he remains only four off his previous best in Partick colours which was a 14-goal notch in season 2007/08.

The 24-year-old is already five goals to the better in comparison with that campaign, when he entered the first week of November with just five strikes to his name.

But like all good strikers the Thistle goal-grabber remains non-plussed with his current impressive form.

Buckie said: "I have to hold my hands up and say that I missed a couple of chances I should have tucked away before I got the second equaliser at Ross County last weekend. Sometimes it works like that but If I had taken these chances we would have had three points and it left me frustrated.

"But that is gone now and we have Raith coming to Firhill on Saturday and I feel like I have a point to prove against them after being sent-off through at Stark's Park the last time we met.

"As any striker will tell you, the main thing is that you keep showing even if you aren't making the most of the chances coming your way.

"The great thing for me is the number of chances we are creating and I am confident if we keep doing so I will keep sticking them away."

Buchanan's dismissal at Stark's Park back in the second week of September was shrouded in controversy when a tussle with Raith skipper Mark Campbell led to a red card for raised hands.

Hustle and bustle however remain an integral part of Buckie's game and the fact that he gets under the skin of defenders as well as under their radar are crucial facets of his relentless pursuit of goals.

Buchanan's importance to the Partick promotion cause is further illustrated by the fact that he has scored three times in three home appearances this term, while he was absent from the Firhill line-up when Jags drew their only home blank of the league season in the 0-0 slumberfest with Ross County.

Small wonder at the collective sigh of relief that swept through the Firhill board room when their prized asset penned a new one-year deal earlier this season.

But while his goal-scoring exploits continue to grab the headlines Buchanan rightly points to the role of strike partner Simon Donnelly in his scorching strike form.

The fact that both Buchanan and Donnelly are enjoying their most injury-free season at Jags is only serving to fan the flames of optimism emanating from Firhill.

Buckie said: "Sid has been superb for us this season and we have formed a pretty good partnership. The good thing for us with us both being injury-free is that we have had the chance to get a fair bit of game time together under our belts.

"In the past either one of us has been out injured at different times and that has not been the case, but touch wood, hopefully we can keep things going.

"The big plus for me is the speed of thought that allows Sid to make a pass before a defender is ready to cover it as that gives me extra space and time.

"When you have the type of quality Sid possesses then it can unlock any defence."
