It's bad enough when there are just a few patches of work needing done, but this looks like it's going to be horrendous.

At the moment, it's bad enough in the morning and evening (during the rush hours) trying to get into work – waiting for traffic lights to change, and lining up with what seems like dozens of buses.

I can only hope the company that's doing the work clears up afterwards, or we'll be faced with even bigger delays as (– which seems to happen on a regular basis –) the potholes start to appear.

Fuel plight

A survey says there are 900,000 homes trapped in fuel poverty.

We all know why, don't we? Greedy energy firms are hitting families with price increases of up to 20%.

There is no need for this.

They tell us they need extra cash for future developments. Maybe so. But just not now.

Burrell fears

I read with interest that both Kelvingrove museum and Glasgow's Botanic Gardens have scored highly in the top UK attractions.

I would, however, like to draw attention to the sorry state of the Burrell Collection in Glasgow's Southside.

While all the focus in the last few years has been on the Kelvingrove and the new Riverside museum, the wonderful Burrell building has been deteriorating to such an extent that the roof is now leaking in many areas.

These areas are being closed off and exhibits seem to be disappearing as the situation gets worse.

I understand that there are huge financial constraints on the council budget at this time but we must address the plight of this iconic building and its magnificent collection before it is too late.

A concerned Southsider
