DUNDEE UNITED look set to swoop for Rangers unwanted utility strike star Alan Gow.

The cash rich Arabs have just raked in £600,000 for Noel Hunt, who has signed on at Reading. Tannadice gaffer Craig Levein has two options in his pursuit of Gow after having failed with an earlier loan bid for the ex-Falkirk man at the beginning of June.

The United gaffer may opt to repeat his loan move for Gow, safe in the knowledge that he can now meet the £4000 a week pay the striker takes home from Ibrox. However should Levein look to make a permanent move for the versatile Gow, he is now in the position to meet Rangers £250,000 asking price.

It is understood the Ibrox club will not release the former Falkirk man for free and that any suitor will be forced to meet their asking price.

Meanwhile, Hearts boss Csaba Laszlo is now known to have made a tentative enquiry regarding Gow and is seeking a new, lef-sided Scottish player to beef up his option in attack and it is possible the new Tynecastle gaffer may follow that up next week.
