THE latest spectacular addition to Glasgow's skyline is taking shape beside the SECC at the new Hydro Arena.
Construction of the building is on schedule and it is due to open next year, well ahead of the Commonwealth Games for which it will be a venue.
The Hydro however, which will be instantly recognisable from its unique architectural style, will be versatile.
It will also give the city another top class venue with the state-of- the-art-equipment and facilities which will enhance the city's reputation and ability to attract the biggest entertainment acts to Glasgow.
From the unique no-hiding-place atmosphere of the Barrowlands to the brand new Hydro, outdoor stadiums and many others in between, there is a venue to suit every event imaginable.
Financially, before it has been completed and a single note played the Hydro is outstripping expectations, with companies eager to be associated with it.
Sponsorship deals are worth eight times more than estimated as the big brand names put their faith in Glasgow as a place to invest, speaking of the Hydro as second only to the 02 Arena in London.
Glasgow has been home to legendary venues through the years from the Empire to the Apollo. Soon, the Hydro will take its place on that illustrious list.
