fundraisers have swapped motorbikes for modelling in an attempt to reach their target of collecting £250,000 for cancer victims.

Organisers behind Breast Way Round – an annual motorbiking trip held to raise money and awareness of the disease – are kicking off their new campaign by bringing out a calendar.

About 100 women – and a few men – wore pink mowhawks and decorated bras in June for the fifth BWR motorbike ride around west Scotland.

The annual biking event was launched by Shirley Ann McKnight, a finalist in the Evening Times Scotswoman Of The Year award in 2010, to raise cash for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Next year the ride will be from May 24-26.

One of the organisers, Gilly Wilson, 49, said she hoped the calendar, which features posed photos of the women involved, would urge more people to get behind the BWR team.

She said: "We want even more people to take part in our motorbike ride this year.

"We have started taking registrations from people who are interested and it is already shaping up to be a busy year."

The group has raised more than £212,000 in total for Macmillan and the aim is to break through £250,000 next year.

A series of events have already been arranged, including a black and white ball.

Ms Wilson said: "The theme of the calendar is 'Cancer is not black and white' and that is what we are trying to show."

Almost 30 sponsors backed the BWR team to produce the calendar.

Sheila Tyeson, who took over as chairwoman of BWR in September when Ms McKnight stepped down, said: "The next year is going to be very, very exciting and if anyone is interested in joining us at any of the events or taking part in the run we would love to hear from them."

April Andrews, Macmillan fundraising manager, said: "The Breast Way Round is a very special group and the people have raised an amazing sum of money to support those affected by cancer."

"More than 800 people every day will find out they have a cancer diagnosis and we could not provide vital services without the fundraising of generous groups like the Breast Way Round.

"This calendar is an amazing way to start 2013 fundraising for a great cause and Macmillan can't thank them enough for their support over the past five years to allow us to continue to develop new cancer services throughout Scotland."
