1957: Actor Humphrey Bogart died of cancer, aged 57. He had won the Best Actor Oscar for his role in The African Queen.
1966: David Jones, above, changed his last name to Bowie to avoid confusion with Davy Jones from The Monkees.
2006: Actress Shelley Winters died, aged 85.
