FORMER Marmalade drummer Dougie Henderson swapped pop for pints when he started work as chargehand at the Jean Armour pub by Glasgow's Crossmyloof Station.

Dougie, from Pollok, had played with the Glasgow band from 1971 to 74. Before that he'd played with the Mad Hatters, the Shevlons the Cartoons and the Poets.

Aged 15, he was already touring in Germany, and by 17 had appeared on Top of the Pops.

The pub, named after the wife of Robert Burns, was known locally as 'the Jeanie'. Owned by city publican John Waterson, it featured the 'Twa Dugs' public bar, the 'Clarinda' lounge and the 'Bard's Room' function suite.

Sadly, the bar was demolished in the early 1990s to make way for a block of flats.
