GLASGOW, once known as 'Cinema City', used to be daft about films, but this isn't the Keystone Cops and Stan and Ollie.

It's a gang of Glasgow University students dressed up as the Gilmorehill Fire Brigade two comedy stars.

The fancy dress, and the collecting cans, were all in aid of Students' Charity Week, an annual event which used to see the whole city held to ransom by rampaging students.

From impromptu street concerts to full-scale fancy-dress parades, the students would go to any lengths to raise cash for less fortunate kids.

Known as 'Rag Week', because they would rag or take the mickey out of their elders and betters, the RAG now stands for 'raising and giving'. The event, although now scaled down, is still run every February.
