BOOTS Corner, at the junction of Union and Argyle Street, was know to generations of amorous Glaswegians as 'Dissy Corner', as that's where you were left disappointed if your date didn't turn up.

Before the chemist expanded to occupy the upper floors, the site was also home to Glasgow's Adelphi Hotel.

With a narrow entrance on Argyle Street, the lobby and front desk were located on the first floor.

The hotel also boasted a first-floor cocktail bar, called 'The Odd Spot', where disappointed Lotharios could drown their sorrows.

Once the hotel shut, in the late 1950s, the building was remodelled internally and overclad with brightly-coloured panels.

Things changed again in the early 90s and KFC now occupies the corner site.
