CHENAI NYAUMWE, 28, is a Glasgow College student and lives in Whiteinch.

MUM-of-one Chenai feels at home in her jeans and T-shirt.

But she loved the orange colour and modern shape of this Cos dress.

Bright colours have been spotted all over this year's red carpets.

New style icon and 12 Years a Slave star Lupita Nyong'o wowed the fashion world when she wore a breathtaking simple Ralph Lauren red dress at the Golden Globes in January.

The Kenyan actress went on to work the trend again in an emerald green Dior gown at the Baftas.

She shot to the top of the world's best dressed lists - and we are all eager to see what she will choose at the Oscars, which take place next Sunday.

Stylists at Sassoon kept Chenai's hair classic, with a braid and chignon.

Stand out colours means it is best to keep accessories, hair and make-up simple.

Chenai said: "My hair looks so beautiful, I don't want to take it out.

"I think I could do this at home because it is simple although it looks more complicated."

Chenai wore Clinique foundation and a nude lip to let the dress do the talking.

The orange dress echoes the spring/summer catwalk trend for block colours.

Chenai said: "I do like wearing colours so I really enjoyed wearing this dress.

"It's easy to style because it's a talking point in itself.

"You could wear this to a less formal party too."

Chenai is wearing: Dress, £69, Cos; Necklace, £29, Cos and Shoes, Chenai's own.

JADE SHEARER, 19, is a fashion college student and works in Topman. She lives in Stepps, North Lanarkshire.

WHEN Brad and Angelina arrived at the Baftas wearing matching suits it made headlines around the world.

Kelly Osbourne followed in her footsteps by wearing a Ted Baker suit at a party in Hollywood recently, signalling a shift in the traditional red carpet uniform.

For this outfit stylists used straightening irons to make Jade's hair poker straight.

The make-up was kept fresh and modern, with dewy skin and peachy nude lip.

Jade said: "My hair is naturally straight but this really makes a statement.

"I think it goes really well with what I'm wearing."

Jade said she felt "grown up" in the suit, which she teamed with her own stiletto heels.

She said: "If I'm going on a night out I'd usually wear a glam skirt and heels or a dress.

"I'd never wear a suit but I really like this.

"You'd definitely stand out among the dresses."

Jade says her style is based on the 1990s and she uses accessories, including scrunchies and hoop earrings, to brighten up her look.

Her favourite awards ceremony look so far is Beyonce's full length glitter gown, which she wore to perform at the Brit Awards.

Jade said: "I loved the sparkle. Beyonce has great style."

RACHAEL TYRRELL, 36, is an account director and lives in the city centre.

IT is the ultimate fail-safe choice for actresses everywhere. The maxi-length strapless gown has long been popular on red carpets.

From Uma Thurman at the Baftas to Jennifer Lawrence at the Screen Actors Guild awards - and many more in between - celebrities love this look.

And Rachael proved it does not have to be stuffy and boring.

The sweeping dress means you can afford to opt for dramatic hair. Hair stylists washed Rachael's hair before using rollers to make sure it had plenty of volume.

They swept it to the side before curling it loosely and keeping it in place with hairspray.

It was teamed with a deep pink lip and a hint of sparkle round the eyes.

Rachael said: "I absolutely love it. I have never managed to get this much volume in my hair so it's definitely a new look."

Rachael's Ted Baker dress is designed to give the wearer a streamlined silhouette.

She said: "It's so different to what I'd usually wear.

"I usually go for dark jeans and a top or if I wear a skirt, it's an A line style.

"I'd never wear full length.

"But I can't believe how flattering it is."

Rachael, whose favourite shops are Zara and House of Fraser, admitted her favourite red carpet look of the season was Angelina Jolie's Saint Laurent tux.

She said: "I love the masculine look, it's really different to anything I've seen."

Rachael is wearing: Dress, £239, Ted Baker HANYA maxi dress; Rose gold vermeil drop earrings, £155, Dower and Hall; Ring, £220, Dower and Hall, Shoes, Rachael's own.
