I have found warts on my back and upper abdomen and I have quite a big one on my neck which is itchy at times. Can I get them removed?

Any skin marks whether old or new that have certain behaviours should be checked out by your GP.

Depending on the appearance they may need to be removed or simply observed. The removal of skin lumps and bumps depends on their size and location and how close they are to certain structures and whether they will have a cosmetic impact on you.

It would be a good idea to speak to your GP about them. Even if they are harmless looking you can still consider removal if something is inconvenient or in an annoying place.

I have been having bad headaches with pain shooting from the back to my eye. I have also been feeling quite sick, faint and dizzy. Can you help?

Headaches can be caused by many things. Many are benign and can be managed with pain relief or other simple strategies.

If your headaches are persistent despite pain relief or recurring, as it sounds they are, then you should see your GP and describe them. Once there is a greater understanding of the type of headache - where it is, how it comes on, clinicians can be clearer about what may be causing it.

If at any time your speech, sight or ability to move normally (including your face) changes with the headache you should seek urgent attention as soon as possible.

Another reason to seek help quickly would be if the headache is associated with vomiting and sensitivity to light.

Astigmatism is a minor eye condition. The main symptom of astigmatism is blurred vision. Astigmatism occurs when the cornea (the front of the eye) is not a perfectly curved shape.

The cornea should be shaped like a football but in cases of astigmatism, it has an irregular curve, with one half flatter or steeper than the other. This means the light rays that come into the eye do not focus properly on the retina at the back of the eye, creating a blurred image.

The symptoms of astigmatism include blurred vision, sensitivity to light and headaches. There are a number of tests that can be used to diagnosis astigmatism. One test, known as a visual acuity test, can be used to assess your ability to focus on objects at different distances.

The visual acuity test usually involves reading letters on a chart, where the letters become progressively smaller on each line.

Astigmatism can be treated by wearing corrective lenses, such as glasses or contact lenses. Both glasses and contact lenses are usually equally as effective in treating astigmatism.
