WE KNOW it can get a bit chilly in Largs, but we never thought of jiving to keep us warm.
These female day-trippers hot-footed it down the Clyde coast in July, when, as any regular visitors will know, the weather in Largs can vary between balmy and barmy; glorious sunshine one moment, torrential rain and gales the next.
Looking at the glazed picture box in the background of this shot, we suspect the picture may have been taken outside the old Largs Picture House, later known as the George Cinema. Who knows, perhaps the girls were queuing up to see The Blackboard Jungle, with its groundbreaking rock 'n' roll soundtrack, courtesy of Bill Haley and his Comets.
One things for sure, the girls must have kept the local lads on their toes.
