IT all kicked off at The 'Kick Off' bar in the Gorbals in 1959 when the police swooped to catch a killer.
The pub, at the corner of Rutherglen Road and South Wellington Street, later called Lawmoor Street, had stood there since the tenement building was erected in the late 1700s.
The dramatic arrest followed the murder of, Helen McGhee, 58, who was stabbed to death in her baby-linen shop in Cathcart Road in April that year.
Butcher's boy John McGilvray, 17, from Cambuslang, was drinking in The 'Kick Off' when the cops caught up with.
Fingerprints found on a copy of the Evening Times linked him to the crime and he was jailed for life.
The pub and surrounding tenements were demolished later that year.
