Spring break, Easter holidays - call it what you like, it's still a big fat fortnight to fill.

Luckily, there are enough fun things happening in Glasgow and the west to keep everyone happy.

Here are five of the best…

1 THE GAMES ARE COMING…

Not sure if you noticed, but the Commonwealth Games are coming to Glasgow this summer and there are lots and lots of ways you can get involved, even if you weren't successful in getting your hands on tickets. Partick Library, for example, is hosting a stadium-load of Games-themed activities as part of its Spring Family Fun Day on April 11, from 11am until 2pm. There's face painting, puzzles, banner-making, Commonwealth Country Hunt, decorate a giant Clyde mascot and more….It's free and takes place from 11am until 2pm. Other libraries are hosting similar events - call 0141 276 1560 or visit www.glasgowlife.org.uk/libraries for more info.

2 MAKE STUFF AND EAT EGGS

If this sounds like Easter heaven to you, head for The Grosvenor Café on Ashton Lane (0845 166 6028 wwwgrosvenorcafe.co.uk) where little ones can make cards and paint eggs while the grown-ups tuck in to a tasty brunch menu. It's on every day from April 18 to 21.

3 BEST DRESSED BICYCLES

Meet a Victorian cyclist and find out about cycling in days of yore at Riverside Museum on April 20 and 21. Don't just dress up yourself, dress up your bike too and take part in a fancy cycle parade outside. It's all free and there's no need to book, just pop in between 11.30am and 4pm and join in the fun. 4 PUPPETS, PERFORMING ARTS AND MORE…

The cracking team at Cumbernauld have come up with a great programme for the Easter holidays, including this Sunday's (April 6) Family Fun Day. Free and jam packed with arts and crafts, drama workshops, storytelling sessions and an Easter egg trail, what's not to love? The theatre is a host venue for the 30th Puppet Animation Festival - check out Clydebuilt Puppet Theatre's beautiful version of Gingerbread Man on April 7 and Over the Top Puppet Theatre's Willie The Wicked Wolf on April 12. 5 DOGS AND DUCKS

Had your fill of chicks and bunnies? Then check out the hilarious dogs and ducks of Drakes of Hazard, who will be waddling and wagging their way round Loch Lomond Shores on April 10, 18 and May 5. It's basically a sheepdog rounding up a gaggle of ducks and it's very funny…The shows are free and take place at The Meadow, at 12 noon, 1.30pm and 3pm.
