FORGET French wines or fancy ales.

Whisky drinkers will tonight discover the perfect food dishes to complement the world's most decorated range of single malts at a special dinner in Glasgow to mark this year's Homecoming Scotland.

The award-winning range of Glenfiddich drams will be married to sumptuous dishes such as salmon and venison at the Pipers Tryst where head chief Edward Shaw has worked with Jamie Milne, the brand's ambassador at William Grant & Sons, to produce a menu best suited to Glenfiddich's 12, 14, 15 and 18-year-old whiskies.

Edward said: "I really enjoyed building a rich, flavoursome menu to compliment the chosen Glenfiddich whiskies for this occasion. From the canapés to the garnish, each fine detail of the meals will work in-hand with the robust taste of the whiskies."

The distillery's master blender Brian Kinsman added: "Many people may not know what dishes perfectly complement certain foods or the number of flavours present in their dram.

"As part of whisky month, we have choices spanning from a fresh, soft, toffee 12-year-old Glenfiddich, to a cinnamon and marzipan flavoured Solera. We want to show how careful choices can make any meal a taste sensation."

It's a highlight of the Homecoming Scotland 2014 Whisky Month with repeat dinners planned for the next two Thursdays. Tickets cost £35 each and can be booked on 0141 353 5551.
