ONE of Glasgow's most historic buildings will re-open tomorrow as a £1.4million dining venue after a major renovation project.
The A-listed Hutchesons' Hall is named after the Hutcheson brothers, George and Thomas, who intended the building to be a hospital.
It has been transformed into a bar, brasserie and fine dining restaurant following a two-year restoration project involving Historic Scotland and a dedicated conservation team from the National Trust for Scotland.
Original features have been restored, including the ornamental ceilings, mosaic floors and cornicing in the Grand Hall, which affords magnificent views of the surrounding buildings.
Restaurateur James Rusk said: "With this new lease of life, we are preserving an institution"
The restaurant, to be called Hutchesons, will specialise in seafood and steaks.
It will also be the first venue in Glasgow to sell Bollinger champagne by the glass, which owners hope will prove an added draw for afternoon tea bookings.
