ROYAL Exchange Square in Glasgow city centre has always been a top location for watching the world go by.

In today's trip down memory lane we go back to 1979, when Charlie Parker's bar was the most modern and trendy place in town to be seen.

With its great location, dark, tinted windows and picky door policy, it was a prime spot for posers.

The bar was named after the late jazz saxophonist and famed for its American burgers.

Charlie Parker's is now home to Di Maggio's.

In homage to the Glasgow institution, just along the road, in Ingram Street, the massive Corinthian venue uses the Parker moniker for its first-floor bar - complete with killer cocktails and live piano performances.
