READERS of a certain age will come over all nostalgic looking at these old Glasgow school 'dinner tickets'.

The buff coloured cards provided free or paid-for access to school meals, with the side of the ticket being punched every time you sat down to dine. And heaven help you if you forgot your dinner money, or blew it all on sweeties, as that meant a week of starving lunchtimes with a rumbling tum.

These cards were snapped at Craigbank Secondary, in Priesthill, on the city's South Side.

The tickets were as interchangeable as the menus, with generations of weans across the city fed on the same unwavering offerings of salty soup, fish fingers, beans and ladles of steaming mince.

If you ever ate in a school lunch hall, the aroma remains with you for ever.
