GLASGOW band the Beatstalkers caused chaos on the South Side when they arrived to open a new fashion store.
The shop, Modrock, was in Lambhill Street, Kinning Park, and billed itself as Glasgow's first Carnaby Street-type boutique for teenagers.
The band - Davie Lennox, Eddie Campbell, Ronnie Smith, Alan Mair and 'Tudge' Williamson - were regarded as Glasgow's answer to the Beatles and were mobbed wherever they played.
Our front page, inset; captures the excitement they brought to the Kinning Park back street, with reports of girls fainting at the sight of their idols and people being injured in the crush. Eventually, a police Land Rover helped bring calm to the pop crazed lunchtime crowds
