Eye Spy Glasgow is a year old this week - and a lot of fun the past 12 months have been.

I've been to just about every part of the city discovering plaques, statues, monuments - in most cases things we pass by every day without noticing them or why they are there.

So it seems right to take a look back at some of my favourite blogs of the past year.

There has been quite a variety of subjects - ranging from the statue of Buffalo Bill in Dennistoun, the monument cairn to the victims of the Nitshill Pit Disaster and the old school for disadvantaged boys in Bridgeton with a wonderful statue above the door of a young scholar.

It has been interesting to discover things I never knew existed and people I had never heard of.

The plaque in Maryhill to the world-famous viola player William Primrose, Glasgow-born and with his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, was a revelation. I had never heard of the great man, let alone that he was born in the city.

Nor did I know the story of the K13 submarine tragedy on the Clyde. The memorial to those who died is in Elder Park, Govan.

Glasgow's sense of humour shone through all year. I loved the statue in the Buchanan Bus Station of a couple kissing. Only in Glasgow could it be called Wincher's Stance.

And the massive statue of David, naked as a jaybird, on the Cosmo Ceramics factory in Oatlands, is as bizarre as they come.

There were many others, a bust of Beethoven looking out over Renfrew Street, The Quaker Graveyard in Partick, The pub plaque in Langside with an explanation of the name Crossmyloof, and the meteorite that fell to earth in Possil.

They are some of my favourites. I hope you have enjoyed the blog's first year and if there is anything you think needs investigating please let me know.
