Carol Kirkwood, a BBC weather presenter from Invernessshire, wore a blue and white polkadot dresss which sent female viewers into a frenzy.
After she Tweeted to followers saying that it was from Pepperberry, the sister brand of curvy lingerie label Bravissimo, the Jessica Spot dress sold out in two sizes online within hours.
Usually called the 'Kate Effect' – which is the high increase in sales of an item or trend after Kate Middleton is seen with it – the 53-year-old broadcaster caused a huge uplift in web traffic after sharing her style secret with her followers.
Louise Pearson, a spokeswoman for Pepperberry, said: “We were thrilled to see the amazing response from viewers yesterday as Carol brought sunshine to the nation in our Jessica Spot Dress, showing how great style and a perfect fit can brighten your day.”
