Bar Soba is to open a third Glasgow venue in the Merchant City this summer.

The popular brand announced the new venue, which will open later this month, to celebrate 15 years since the opening of their first site.

This will be the third Glasgow site for Bar Soba, which is famous for its award-winning Pan-Asian Street food and indulgent cocktails.

The new multi-level bar and kitchen will feature three dining areas including balcony seating with views over the bustling Merchant Square, two purpose-built cocktail bars, a DJ booth for showcasing the UK’s up and coming talent and even a glass-fronted private dining room for special events and celebrations.

The site, formerly the Chophouse Brasserie, is undergoing a £500,000 refurbishment and will be in keeping with the brand’s signature urban Oriental style with a slightly more opulent edge to compliment their new Menu.

You can still expect soul-satisfying classics like Pad Thai and fragrant curry dishes, whilst enjoying new and contemporary dishes like their Thai Fish & Chips (seabass fillet filled with a blend of prawns and lime leaf then deep fried in tempura batter) and Koh Samui Surf & Turf (8oz rib eye steak topped with tiger prawns in a lime and red chilli butter).

Soba is the vision of Scottish Entrepreneur, Brad Stevens, who opened the first Soba Bar & Kitchen back in 1999.

He said “The Merchant City has thrived since the success of the annual Merchant City festival, particularly during the 2014 Commonwealth Games and we now feel that the time is right for Soba and the Merchant City to come together. We’re working hard on creating the perfect space in our new home in Merchant Square which promises balcony views as well as frontage on Albion Street”.

Soba Merchant City will also be serving up a warm welcome to its customers by offering 50% off main courses from August 3 to 31.
