LOOK out for a retro Volkswagen camper van parked in Candleriggs during the second weekend of Merchant City Festival.

It will house a Kiehl's pop-up shop, bringing the brand's unique range of skincare goodies to festival goers.

Staff from the Buchanan Street store will be on hand to offer skincare consultations and the chance to try some of their best-selling products.

"Kiehls has always been really involved with the community," says assistant store manager Fay Pinder.

Linking up with the Fashion Cultures strand of the Merchant City Festival made perfect sense.

From July 30 until August 2, the pop-up shop staff will offer advice on skincare, a rarely available 20% discount, a goody bag with purchases over £50 and a complimentary facial voucher for everyone who buys a product.

"We have a really rich history. Kiehl's was founded in 1851 in New York and it has a pharmaceutical, old world apothecary heritage that is still reflected in the products today," says Fay.

"We still use A lot of natural ingredients but backed by science and technology which makes everything as efficacious as possible."

Best-selling products in the Glasgow store are Powerful Strength Line Reducing Concentrate, a high strength vitamin c serum, and Midnight Recovery Concentrate, night oil which is great for hydration.

Just out is Iris Extract Activating Treatment Essence, initially designed for the Asian market but proving to have skincare benefits around the world.

"An essence is an unusual step for us. Use it after a toner but before a serum," says Fay. "It was designed for very sophisticated routines and although 98% of Koreans use an essence in their routine it is almost unheard of here.

"this is anti-ageing but has 24-hour water hydration so it is drawing water into the skin. Pat it into the hands and press it on. It dries instantly but also has LHAs, natural fruit acids, which lift the skin and create channels for serum and moisturiser to be more effective.

"We started using the Iris Essence and within two days noticed a difference. That's from my skin which is very oily and acne prone to dry skin types, it has plumped and really hydrated. You can feel the difference."
