The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were the ‘in’ thing for youngsters in the 1990s when the four crime fighters from the New York sewers became a massive hit worldwide.
But they were the subjects of a crime investigation in Glasgow in November 1990 when they were among the items stolen during a  break-in, at Pick ‘n’ Mix in Gallowgate.
The haul also included designer collector cases, sewer hockey sets, catapults, giant turtles, turtle cookie jars, sewer plant sets and calculators.
Youngsters were keen to collect the Ninja Turtle toys and their proposed sale that Saturday morning had been well advertised, meaning queues of youngsters turned up at the store at 8am, two hours before it was due to open. but they were left disappointed when the theft was discovered.
Fortunately, there was still another seven weeks before Christmas, giving parents the opportunity to ensure they got the desired presents for their children.
And it appears the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are still popular. There was a movie last year and a new one is now being filmed, to be released in 2016.
