Foodies can take a step back in time thanks to Glasgow's newest restaurant - which boasts a Victorian theme.
This is your first look at The Trading House, which opens its doors this weekend, and is situated in Glasgow's The Citizen Building.
The former offices of The Evening Citizen newspaper have undergone a full refurbishment in recent weeks to transform the building into the city’s newest drinking and dining spot.
To mark its arrival, The Trading House has teamed up with three Scottish breweries to bring the best of local ale to the forefront of its offering.
The menu will feature contemporary brew Trade Winds from the Highlands’ Cairngorm Brewery, craft lager Schiehallion from Harviestoun Brewery and Joker IPA from Williams Bros. Brewing Co. – both in Clackmannanshire.
Taking the lead in the kitchen and turning his hand to the hanging kebab signature dish is Martin Kane who joins as head chef having previously worked at Darcy’s in Princes Square for nearly two years and the Waverley Tea Room.
The menu also boasts deli boards and a variety of traditional dishes such as Fish and Chips.
A familiar Glaswegian face – Louise Ralston – has returned to the hospitality scene in her hometown from Manchester, taking up the role of general manager at The Trading House alongside newly-appointed Corinne Boyd as business development manager. The staff are pictured at a staircase in the venue's entrance.
Corinne, a graduate from the University of Strathclyde, said: “Since being brought on board last month, I’ve watched the venue start to take shape so it’s such an exciting prospect that we’ll be welcoming our first customers in a matter of days.
“While we don’t officially open until Monday, we’re inviting shoppers and visitors in the area this weekend to come and see what we’re all about, get a taster for what’s to come and get involved in the celebrations.”
Reminiscent of the East India Trading Company, the bar and restaurant venue serves up an eccentric atmosphere and a décor like no other – sympathetically accentuating some of the building’s stunning, listed architecture.
Ryan James, Chairman of the Glasgow Restaurant Association, said: “The Trading House is another great addition to Glasgow’s vibrant restaurant scene. It shows the confidence that restaurateurs have in Glasgow’s economy, with brands such as The Trading House helping augment Glasgow’s position as one of the best places to eat out in the UK.”
The Trading House is located at 24 St Vincent Place, Glasgow, G1 2EU.
