A new health and fitness focused restaurant has opened in Glasgow.

Prep Fitness Kitchen opened on January 22 on 22 Bath Street and hopes to offer its customers healthy options.

The site just off Buchanan Street houses a 60-cover restaurant with all waiting staff hand picked based on their various health and fitness qualifications and backgrounds. The impressive arsenal of staff ranges from sports nutritionists, personal trainers, and human nutrition and dietetics university students to UKBFF bodybuiding champions and a professional wrestler.

Prep Fitness Kitchen has a takeaway section and protein/juice bar. For those on the go, customers can choose from an array of balanced prep meals, super salads, protein shakes, natural pre and post work out cold pressed juices and freshly baked protein snacks.

Prep also offers a fully bespoke weekly meal plan delivery service. The concept of ‘meal prep’ is where people can spend hours each night preparing healthy meals for the coming days, a ritual which is no longer reserved for athletes and body builders.

The restaurant also has an exclusive deal with Neat Nutrition to be the sole retailer in Scotland of their award winning protein and supplement range. Neat nutrition is the favored protein of the fitness industries man of the moment ‘Joe Wicks’ (The Body Coach).

Prep Fitness Kitchen owner David Buchan said: “We identified a gap in the market to provide the health conscious consumer a service that would cover at home, takeaway and dine-in eating.

"Being someone who eats healthily myself I realised that there were very few places in the city where I could eat out and still keep track of my daily macronutrients and calorie intake.

"Secondly due to my busy work schedule I struggled to find the time to do my meal prep. Our customers will receive a 360 degree service, whether they are eating on the go, looking to socialise with friends or require a full week of bespoke meals delivered to their home, we can fulfill all their health and fitness needs.”

David added: "We have received a phenomenal amount of support from the local community, we launched our facebook page just over a month ago and so far we have just over 11,000 followers and have been inundated with messages from people looking to find out when we open. It's very encouraging to know that people are excited about Prep."

Consumers will soon be able to download the Prep Fitness Kitchen app for free, they will be presented with the option to enter their sex, weight, height, activity level and fitness goals, the app will then calculate their daily-recommended macronutrients and calories, and if required, populate a full week of bespoke nutrition, available for pickup or delivery.

David said: “There isn’t any other apps on the market like it, we have spend months developing it so that the interface is user friendly yet includes the variety of meal options we can provide.

"An element which I am particularly excited about is that we can link the app users and their personal trainers together allowing fitness professionals a better insight into what their clients are eating and how often. Prep isn’t just for the advanced fitness lover though, I think people will be surprised at how delicious our takeaway and dine-in meals are, consumers have a perception that healthy eating means compromising on taste, this just isn’t the case at Prep.”

Prep Fitness Kitchen intend to attract people in all stages of their healthy eating journey. Whether you are an avid gym-goer or just looking for a delicious and healthy meal, Prep will be welcoming you from January onwards.

Plans for a secondary restaurant are also already underway, Prep Edinburgh is due to open in early summer 2016.
