TOOT had overdone the fizz and food on a night out with the girls and was now counting the calories as well as the pennies.

I was hoping for a night in front of the box with Britain's Got Talent, but no Toots still wanted to head out.

As the kitchen is for show only, it was either a case of going out or starving.

After a pricey shopping spree in London, the Moll had several outfits she wanted to show off.

Looking every inch the super model, Toots sashayed her way down the stairs at Tec Towers and with her chariot awaiting, we headed off in search of scran.

There seemed to be a hold up on the Squinty Bridge so rather than sit in traffic I drove along Govan Road to find the new Village Hotel Club.

Its a striking black building which is the latest addition to the ever-expanding riverside hotel boom.

We pulled up in the Buick with Toots being dropped right at the door given the crazy skyscraper heels she was wearing. Who buys shoes you can't walk in?

It was a warm, welcoming, trendy joint.

We made our way to the restaurant Verve Grill and hoped they would have a free table.

A quick look around and it seemed the place was overrun with little Disney princesses.

Tiaras and sparkles seemed to be the dress code hear, and my farrah's just didn't cut it.

We inquired about a table for two and were taken to a vast section which was wide open with free tables. However, we were offered a tiny, dinghy table near the buffet section -Toots drew both me and the hostess dagger and we quickly opted for a window seat.

Menus in hand we had a look at what was on offer.

My peepers headed straight for the grill section, so it would a juicy steak for me.

Watching her weight more than usual, Toots showed remarkable restraint and bypassed some of the tempting dishes on the menu for the 500 club.

It was a collection of meals with a lower calorie count, but seemed to be right up her ladyship's street. She's now found the perfect excuse for eating out as its the healthy option. She want for the chargrilled chicken with salad.

We ordered up couple of large vinos and took in the surroundings. Getting the hotel restaurant atmosphere can be a tricky business, but it seemed to be a pleasant joint. On the plus side I'd managed to manoeuvre my seat so I could see the end of that night's football on the big screens in the bar.

Our waitress quickly took our scran order, and I was wishing I'd ordered up a starter of the sticky lollipops as they were flying out of the kitchen with a lovely aroma.

Toots was telling me all about her next shoe purchase, when I realised a fair bit of time had passed and there was no sign of our dinners.

My tummy was turmoil and needed scran fast. Maybe we had been pipped in the queue by the little diva princesses and their rounds of fishfingers and chips.

We were told it wouldn't be much longer.

Our mains appeared. My minute steak looked yummy, with a roasted tomato and handcut chips.

While Toots chicken, I had to admit looked pretty tasty.

The steak certainly had a good flavour and hit the spot, while Toots was tucking into her chicken like there was no tomorrow.

"This totally delivers on flavour, Tec," piped up The Moll. "This healthy eating lark is a breeze."

We passed on pudding and opted for coffee, before taking my own little princess home.
