WHEN I was four I walked into a bus shelter while waving to a wee boy from my kindergarten class who was sticking his tongue out at me.

As a permanent reminder to stay away from naughty boys, I was left with a scar on my left eyebrow.

Not only does my eyebrow have a pesky hole in it, my brows are very fair and pretty patchy - meaning they need a good bit of help.

And in walks Benefit's new brow collection.

I was given Precisely, My Brow Pencil in Shade 2 to try.

It's very similar to Mac's brow pencil in that it's self-propelling and so doesn't need the minor fuss of regular sharpening.

The colour does a lovely job and the thin tip lends itself to precision filling in. There's a brush on the other end but I don't use it as my brows aren't thick enough to need it.

Benefit claims the pencil, which has a waxy consistency, will last for 12 hours. Unfortunately for them, I trial it while doing a 160-mile cycle across the Outer Hebrides and, while it holds up, it definitely needs a touch up between day and evening.

Precisely, My Brow Pencil is a great product and I would be a convert if it wasn't for the price.

It's not particularly different from others on the market but costs a good bit more. Mac's version, for example, is £5 cheaper.

Good product, but not brow-raising.

BROWS are back, and they're big.

Thankfully, Benefit cottoned on to the latest craze for must-have brows.

For me, with pretty standard, light-coloured ones, their Ka-Brow! gel works a treat.

And the packaging is adorable too. The dainty pot lid doubles up as a brush and allows easy application of the product.

The brush shape is key - even for those with a less-than steady hand, you can create bold, sharp brows in seconds.

I tried shade 2, and although it looked light in the pot, it came out darker when applied and matches my hair colour well.

The brush needs to be cleaned every day, as the product tends to build up and can cause problems during the next day's application (smudges, or bits in unwanted places) but it's just a quick wipe which takes seconds.

The gel stays on for hours and the consistency is thick enough to allow definition, but not too thick that it starts sliding off half way through the day.

I finished it off with a standard brow comb to complete my high-definition brows from my own home. Perfection.
