Her ladyship has been driving me nuts about this place out of town in Uddingston.

“We have to try Angels, we have to try it Tec. The girls have been going on and on about it,” she squeaked at me while painting her trotters over the bed.

“It has cocktails and at night, there is dancing, and...” she rattled

“OK doll,” I snapped hoping for a bit of peace.

Hitting my shoulder, she warned, “Remember, you have to book, the girls say it’s always busy. You can never get a table. Well that's what they have told me but we have to try it.”

“And do the girls tell us what to eat too,” I said out of earshot.

So I picked up the horn, dialled the digits, and me and toots were hours later jumping in the Buick to drive to Angels.

I parked up the wheels at the side of the hotel which has a fancy gated entrance, right up her ladyship’s street.

“Oh, it’s so romantic looking,” she squealed as she struggled out of the Buick in her high heels.

Inside, the waiter showed us to our table after I confirmed a table for Tec and Toots.

Feeling a little stressed from my heavy workload, I opted for a soft drink, and so did toots – she is watching the waistline - or at least that is what she says.

The menu was full of the classics. It's what you would expect from a local joint, nothing too fancy despite outside looking "so romantic".

I decided on the fish and chips while the Moll opted for some chicken fajitas.

"My girls loved the chicken fajitas so I have to try them. Tallulah said they reminded her of her time in Mexico.

"When are we going to Mexico Tec?"

I always choked on my tarter sauce as the moll suggested another trip which will be one more hit on my already light wallet.

The fish and chips were pretty standard, and came with the usual tarter sauce and mushy peas.

It filled a gap as I was pretty famished after a hard day at the office.

The moll loved her chicken fajitas and scoffed them down while leaving enough room to say, "Tallulah told me the food in Mexico is amazing."

"And will Tallulah pay for Mexico?" I moaned.

Next up was my favourite part, desserts.

I decided with the Uddingston-based Tunnock's factory close by, I would sample the local cuisine a snowball ice-cream sundae.

It was beyond delicious, a reason to go back for.

It looks like Toots, however, won't be getting into her Mexico bikini anytime soon as she marvelled over how good the Lemon Meringue cake tasted.

The two of us sat for a bit waiting on the bill, and watched as another table celebrated a birthday.

The lights were dimmed as the waiters sang, "Happy Birthday."

"Why don't you ever do that for me Tec," the Moll moaned.

I rolled my eyes until a big smile appeared on my face at the sight of the bill which was placed before me during the birthday celebration.

"Is this right?" I muttered to the waiter.

"Yes, we do a deal during the week, two for one on main meals," she said.

Suddenly I was feeling flush, "Maybe we can go to Mexico after all," I teased toots.
