The Tennent’s Visitor Centre has been crowned winner of the ‘Beer Destination of the Year’ at the inaugural Scottish Beer Awards.

Fighting off competition which included Six Degrees North, WEST Brewery, Brewdog and Eden Mill, the Tennent’s Visitor centre walked away with the title which recognised visitor experience, growth in visitor numbers and effectiveness in marketing.

The awards, held at Edinburgh’s Corn Exchange, celebrated the best in Scottish brewing. An independent panel judged categories which included beer styles, innovation, marketing and growth in business.

The popular Wellpark Brewery tour gives visitors an insight into the heritage of Scotland’s oldest brewery, the making of every pint of Tennent’s Lager and exhibitions on Tennent’s place in Scottish music and football.

Ross Pollock, Manager of the Tennent’s Visitor Centre, said: “To win the Beer Destination of the Year Award at the inaugural Scottish Beer Awards is a fantastic achievement for the Tennent’s Visitor Centre. We’re chuffed to have beat off some tough competition from other breweries across Scotland. The win recognises the high quality visitor experience we always deliver, growth in visitor numbers and effective marketing, and we’re ambitious to continue our growth as a leading visitor attraction both locally, nationally and internationally.”

The Tennent’s Visitor Centre is open seven days a week, with tours running at various times throughout the day.
