Using wax in my hair is something I'd never really considered.

Besides the fact it conjures up images in my head of Gareth Gates circa 2001, I didn’t really think such products were made for people with long-ish hair like me.

However, when Davines Shine Wax landed on my desk, I thought I’d give it a go.

I’ve recently had a full fringe cut which has taken some getting used to.

There’s nothing I dislike more than having to try and flatten a fringe out first thing in the morning after I’ve slept on it funny the night before.

In an attempt to get the reluctant strands of hair to do what I wanted one freezing cold morning, I thought I’d try the wax out on my fringe.

Carefully avoiding being too liberal, I rubbed a small amount into my fingers and applied to my fringe and ends of my hair.

The texture is surprisingly creamy, rather than the thick wax I had imagined in my head.

Even better, it isn’t visible after being applied to the hair but still has a noticeable impact on its appearance.

As I usually wear my hair wavy, and I’ve found using a bit of wax really helps the style hold for longer while making it look a bit sleeker than if I had just used hairspray.

Two weeks down the line and I can’t imagine not using wax on my hair before leaving the house.

Four stars.
